One child was strapped onto my back while another crawled around in the playpen. I worked 12 hour days over months of sanding, and removing wallpaper, and with just one child. Ha! We were getting closer to being done, yet it was still a long distance away. The project would require money, effort, and of course my favourite shopping experience for furniture to decorate this home. In order to keep my budget sound, I travelled with my three boys in search for bargains in estate sales. The weekly ritual was that we would go through estate sales and garage sales on Fridays and Saturdays buying a mixture of antique and brand new furniture. My next task was to spend my weekdays painting and sanding on our front lawn. My love for furniture repair started with an appearance that was similar to this. When our home was fully furnished, I could not stop! At the local market I set up a little space and sold some objects. Then I bought more that I knew how to use them and outgrew the area. My home was where I started hosting open houses in which more than 1000 people could come in and purchase any product they wanted on the first floor over the course of a weekend. This is where my business Growing Days was born. Growing Days was not only an extremely successful company, it was as well my family. Being a new mom I was able to find the perfect equilibrium to start my own company and be a good mother. Growing Days seemed like the ideal combination. My daughter Nora became our fourth child. While I was pleased about the direction my company was taking, I realized that I was in need of some time off. I decided to slow down and spend some time in my home with my children. It was time. However, after just a couple of minutes the phone started to ring. There were calls from people asking me for help with interior decor and home renovations. A majority of them walked into my house in my open houses for furniture. The time flew by before I managed a large-scale business for home improvement. The first step was to take clients with a speed I was comfortable with. When you first spoke to me about my home renovation business, I laughed. In fact, I laugh at times when I think of it.
