Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14, 1980) is an American actor, singer, and dancer. Some of her early Broadway productions include Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. As the character Essie in You Can't Take It With You she was awarded the Tony Award. Annaleigh Ashley is a Tony Award winning actor and actress has collaborated with directors and actors both on screen and stage for her entire career. Ashford can be seen next as a co-star with Kumail Nanjiani, as Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive Welcome to Chippendales. It debuts on the 22nd November. Ashford is currently working on the film of Searchlight Pictures' terror thriller Dust which also features Sarah Paulson. It will also be available in the form of an Hulu Original on Disney DTC. Ashford is scheduled to return to Broadway on March 20, 2023 where he will star alongside Josh Groban opposite Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production will be held in the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), the same team who brought us Hamilton, will direct the musical. Ashford played Paula Jones, the main role in Ryan Murphy's latest FX series American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on the scandal that brought Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp as well as other main characters into the first ever impeachment proceeding in America in more than a century. The two-season run she had on the CBS comedy B Positive was her first significant role. It was created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the famous Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not new to Broadway was awarded both Tony Drama Desk Awards as well as Outer Critics Circle Awards in her role of Essie. She has also appeared on Broadway as a character in Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde in addition to the original part in the role of Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots for which she received a nomination for an Tony Award. Ashford was raised and born in Denver and currently splits the time in Los Angeles, and New York.
